As an affiliate of the Greater Wilmington Chamber Foundation, the Education Council is the “eyes and ears” for the Foundation in the community regarding needs in the public schools.  

Mission:  The mission of the Education Council is to identify, develop and communicate key initiatives to address the educational needs of the area for the Foundation.

Activities:  The Education Council meets bi-monthly and conducts the following activities:
    identify and advise the Foundation on priorities and programs;
    Identify and communicate with program deliverers;
    assist with delivery of programs; and
    recommend Foundation-approved grants and programs.

Teacher Recruitment and Retention
A major focus of the Education Council is to recruit and retain quality teachers for the public schools in New Hanover and Pender Counties.
