Mini-Grants

The Greater Wilmington Chamber Foundation is pleased to announce the availability of funds for Mini-Grants for educators in New Hanover and Pender County Schools.  Mini-Grants will be distributed to educators who wish to implement creative classroom projects for which funds otherwise are not available.  

Grant recipients are selected by teams made up of representatives from the business community, retired teachers from New Hanover and Pender County Schools; and representatives from the professional development staff of New Hanover and Pender County Schools.  For information on mini-grants contact Crystal Buie at 254-4186 for New Hanover County or Joyce Keith at 259-0131 ext. 223 for Pender County.

PURPOSE OF PROGRAM:
This program was initiated to encourage creativity in effective teaching and to increase the cooperation between the community and New Hanover and Pender County Schools through funding of special programs.

PROJECTS: All New Hanover and Pender County School teachers and support personnel in Grades K-12, including guidance counselors and media specialists are eligible to apply for grants. All New Hanover and Pender County School principals may suggest specific projects, but proposals must be written by the teachers involved.

¨      When will I be notified about the status of my Mini-Grant application?

      The applicants should be notified the last week of October

¨      May I submit more than one application?

      Yes

¨      Can professional development be incorporated into the mini-grant application?

      Yes, to the extent that it assists in the total scope of the Mini-Grant.

¨      Can Charter School educators participate?

      No

¨      When will I receive the mini-grant funds awarded to me?
      By end of the year 2007.

¨      If my application is not selected as a winner, will I be notified?

      Yes

¨      Who should sign the application?

      The applicant(s) and the school principal

¨      Is it necessary to submit a final report?
       Yes, due May 2008.
